That held some water, but 'twas far
Too narrow necked, and much too low
The water was, for Master Crow
With his short neck to get a drink.
The Crow then set himself to think -
At last upon a plan he hit.
"Since I cannot reach down to it,
I must invent some way," said he,
"To make the water rise to me."
With little pebbles, one by one,
He filled the Jar; as this was done
The water rose and rose, until
The thirsty Crow could drink his fill.
