Boothby: The Ram, the Stag and the Wolf

The knave security who gives,
His creditors but more deceives.
A Stag once ask'd a Ram to lend
Some corn, on credit of his friend
The Wolf: The wary Ram demurr'd,
Afraid to trust in either's word.
"Bonds, notes," he says, "can little bind ye;
When pay-day comes the de'il won't find ye."
