The Wolf and the Tragic Actor's Mask

The Wolf and the Tragic Actor's Mask. A wolf found the mask of a tragic actor lying in the field. He looked at it this way and that, and then he said, "O such beauty, but it has no brains or wits at all!"

Persona Tragoedi. Personam tragoedi Lupus in agro invenit, quam semel et iterum vertit. "O quanta species" ait "et cerebrum non habet neque sensum!"

Notes. This is Steinhowel 2.14, which is Perry 27 in Perry's classification scheme. This fable is more often told about a fox who finds a mask in a craftsman's studio, but in this version, the animal is a wolf who inexplicably finds a mask out somewhere in a field!
