During the Middle Ages, the verse fables of Phaedrus were known in the various prose paraphrases that often go under the name of "Romulus." One of the most interesting collections of prose paraphrases is by Ademar of Chabannes, who lived in the first half of the 11th century. You can read about Ademar's life and works in this Wikipedia article. You can find Hervieux's edition of Ademar's fables at GoogleBooks.
